How to clear service def system message duramax.

Resetting the DEF. So I have a 2012 Duramax. The DEF fluid got low. It read 200 miles remaining. So I put more DEF fluid in. It held 1.5 gallons. Which is not enough to fill the tank on that. Still reads 200 miles remaining. 383 posts · Joined 2019. #2 · Jan 16, 2024. you can't bypass the DEF codes. the other issue is your DPF system, if it doesn't clear with a regen, it may need to be replaced or cleaned. there is a thread on here that explains cleaning the filter with chemicals. otherwise it needs to be cut out cleaned and re-installed.
