The worst part about it is that computers have actually gotten pretty good at replicating stop motion, the lego movie was a start, but I've seen some pretty convincing stuff in terms of fully replicating claymation, by solo artists even, they could've realistically done this with even a smaller studio if they knew what they were doing.
