The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) thoroughly examined the situation and concluded that it was a false alarm. Instead, the incident turned out to be a physical altercation. We have received reports of an active shooter at the Avenues Mall. JSO has investigated this incident and determined it to be false.

This incident marks the 12th officer-involved shooting this year for JSO. The State Attorney's Office is at the scene conducting an independent investigation.
