Hi all, First time M14 owner here (Not new to the M1 style action and controls though). I just purchased a James River Armory M14 from Classic Firearms and received it yesterday from my FFL. Needless to say, I was itching to go and shoot it. This morning I field stripped it and oiled it up some... I bought a JRA M14 back in 2018 but it was defective. I would load a magazine, pull the charging handle and would fire the first round fine. But it failed to eject the spent case and pull a new loaded shell from the magazine. I bought my JRA at Classic Firearms and when I called the for an RMA they put me in touch with Bula Defense.

After 2 months I finally got my new JRA M14 to the range today. Ran 100 rounds of Hirtenberger thru it (was limited on time). The M14 is the very reason for the ridiculous "once a machine gun, always a machine gun" nonsense. However, taking the heel and cutting off the lug and welding it to a current made semi-auto receiver is NOT illegal, nor is it considered a machine gun. This is how JRA was able to do it.
